The GRAT Association, which represents the interests of the Rayalaseema people living in Telangana, held a media and press conference on November 5th, 2023 at its office. The founder and president of the association, Shri A. Hanumanta Reddy, addressed the reporters and shared some facts and figures about the Rayalaseema community in Telangana. He said that about 15 lakh Rayalaseema people from six districts (Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor, Nellore, Anantapur, and Prakasam) have settled in various parts of Telangana for various reasons. He also said that the association has been active for 10 years and has enrolled around 40,000 members. He listed the areas where the majority of the Rayalaseema people reside, such as Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Quthbullapur, Medchal, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Uppal, Amberpet, Musheerabad, Sanath Nagar, Nampally, Rajendra Nagar and Secunderabad Cantonment. He also mentioned that some Rayalaseema people have also settled in other districts like Mahboob Nagar, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nizamabad, and Warangal, where they are engaged in various businesses and occupations.
People who migrated from the Rayalaseema region to Hyderabad or other districts in Telangana are living happily and peacefully with the local people. They do not face any problems or discrimination based on their origin or identity. They have integrated well into the society and culture of Telangana and contribute to its development and prosperity.
Rayalaseema is a region in Andhra Pradesh that faces many challenges such as drought, poverty, and lack of development. Many of its residents have to travel to Hyderabad every day for various reasons such as education, health care, and employment. GRAT association is a group that represents the interests and aspirations of the Rayalaseema people. We appeal to all the political parties, both regional and national, to support us in our efforts to promote our culture and development. We request that you allocate a permanent building and funds for us to organize various activities that will benefit our region and its people.
We, the members of GRAT, appeal to all the political parties to recognize our legitimate demands and cooperate with us for the welfare of the people from the Rayalaseema region who are living in Telangana state. We assure you that we will contribute to the progress of Telangana state without disrupting the harmony. We do not associate with or endorse any groups or organizations that try to create instability.
